Pow Wow!

The month of November also began with a visit to the Southern Paiute annual Pow Wow.  We took T a couple years ago and really enjoyed an afternoon of drums and dancing so we thought we would try it again.  The kids really liked watching the dancers and eating fry bread.  We took a lunch and spent the afternoon relaxing.  I love to watch the young and old carry out their cultural traditions with such heart and pride, it is really very moving!  I wasn't able to capture many pictures of my own family but I did get some neat pictures of the dancers and their costumes.
Such grace!

Love the determination!

What a cutie!

The beading and detail is amazing.

A fabulous way to begin the month of November!

Playground

Tiernan and Ireland love to spend time at the playground.  It's nice being home since it enables me to take them at least once or twice a week.  I try to just sit back and let them play.  Tiernan is pretty sure of himself and does a good job playing within the limits of his abilities but Ireland is a whole different story.  She hasn't figured out that she is only 18 months and a little small to climb on all the big kid stuff.  I often find myself rescuing Ireland from precarious situations of wiping tears after a crash.

T loves to swing high and crazy!
I love the playground!!

What is your plan my little one?

A little tricky but she got it!

Halloween

Halloween was such fun for the kids this year, especially Tiernan.  The kids had several opportunities to dress-up in their costumes but unfortunately I only had my camera handy on Halloween.  The kids dressed up to attend the Harvest Festival at Aaron's school and for the Haunted Harvest at Springs Preserve.  The kids had a great time at both events and T was able to practice saying "trick-or-treat" and "thank-you".  Ike just practiced trying to chew everything out of the wrapper.
This was the first year we spent alone on Halloween.  For as long as I can remember it has been a family and most recently a friend affair but this year we decided to stay home and try our own neighborhood.  Aaron and I were amazed to watch or normally shy son bang on doors and shout trick-or-treat at the top of his lungs.  I guess candy can be a powerful motivator.  As much fun as going door to door was, the highlight of the evening was passing out candy in our driveway for the second half of the night.  Tiernan stood at the end of the driveway with fists full of candy yelling to anyone who could hear him "Hey guys!  Over here, come to my house I have "you" candy!".  It was so darn cute.  The neighborhood kids will probably never come back considering a 2yr old trying to pass out candy really puts a kink in their night when they only have so much time to collect their loot.  We are already looking forward to next year!

Don't worry I'll share my treats with you :)

Fall Fun

Fall has to be my favorite time of the year!  There are so many fun things to do and we have such nice weather here in Las Vegas that we really take advantage of it.  Just before Halloween we spent a morning at a place called "The Farm" in North Las Vegas.  We all had a great time seeing the animals and pumpkins. Tiernan enjoyed a pony ride and both kids liked riding the "cow train".
Enjoying a warm fall day.

Who doesn't love a giant gum ball machine!

This was fun until the kitty tried to chomp his arm!

Time for a pony ride!!

He really is having fun...

Can't shake the serious face.

The Great Outdoors in October

We have had beautiful weather for most of October and have really taken advantage of it by spending lots of time outdoors.  We try to make it to make it to a local park at least once a week.  We do story time each Wednesday and usually play at the park beforehand and have a picnic lunch.  Today we spent a few hours tromping around the Desert Wildlife Refuge.  The kids had lots of fun playing in and out of the water.
